Showcase Night

Hudson Baker are a new four piece local band, drums, base, guitars and keyboards. Playing a mixture of blues and rock, Hudson Baker showcased their set at the social club in before they start gigging. Their influences are Hendrix, Eric Clapton, ZZ Top and The Beatles.

You never know quite what to expect from a bands first public performance - but from the offset any worries we may have had were swept away. Hudson Baker treated their audience to an impressive array of blues/rock classics, proving their expertise on all instruments and casually passing around the lead vocals from one member to another.

It may have been their first time out but their instrumental skills have obviously been honed to perfection. It would almost be a disservice to the band to single out any one member, as they all demonstrated an immense talent, but the lead guitarist can't be passed over - his playing was far beyond outstanding and at a level we rarely get to hear.

As an occasional addition to the band, Hudson Baker were joined by a guest harmonica player, who added even more layers to the rich sound. This is a band that you have to listen to - not just hear in the background - their audience were held captive until the very last song. If you get the chance to see Hudson Baker - see them!
